Let's face it. While there are many cameramen that are passionate about what they are doing, one needs to whore a little. Once a while, you end up in parties, sport events or anything that you are not interested in at all. But still, you need to take those shots and make them look damn good. Because you know that this is the best way for you to get your bread on the table. Might sound gloomy for those who have a deep passion that they want to practice every day of their lives. But I don't think so at all.
Actually I too had a lot of problems going to those events, where I had to show the best of the fake side of me. Yes, I was never too good with appearances. But dispite all the hardship, there were good times too that I learned from. Luckily enough, it made me move on and I have now discovered the "nice" world of affiliate marketing. In this way, I can do that less diseried work from home without having to sweat my balls for anyone else. Just going with my own pace, and you can make good money too.
Not to lie to myself, I have been honest and creating great content that hopefully everyone enjoys. Of course, that is what photography is all about. But one of the first obstacles on this journey, was to profit from the affiliate business in a global level. This is because photos are a very global phenomenon so naturally a lot of the people coming to my website were from different parts of the globe. Lucky for me, I have found the ultimate solution which is to localize affiliate links with a WordPress plugin. Having spent just a few dollars on the product, I can see how the profits are folding in front of my eyes.
There are many things that I sincerely want to promote for other photographers out there, and depending on the country these services as well as products are based in different online shops for example. Now someone visiting from Asia, or Americas can go directly to the right place to do their shopping. This is the "localizing" bit, where the plugin can detect the users country and give the customer any kind of content I choose. Also known as a Geotargeting method, I can have full control to give a beautiful and easy user experience with WordPress. And with little effort even!
Affiliate links can get messy, but having a good plugin to organise everything makes it easy for the future. A good investment, which is recommended to all photographers as well as any kind of people who are interested in getting into affiliate marketing.
